Although GNOME 2.20 is out, there is not much to cheer about, because GKT+ does still not have a decent web browsing widget.
Despite fever and running nose (suddenly, autumn has arrived) I managed build Epiphany against XULRunner trunk.
Although it looks a bit nicer (you should see the curved widgets :P) it still has some rough points like various missing features or assertion on exit:
plaes@sol ~/opt $ epiphany: cairo-hash.c:196: _cairo_hash_table_destroy: Assertion `hash_table->live_entries == 0' failed.
To repeat the success, just fetch the Mozilla overlay from http://code.google.com/p/g-overlays/ (kudos to Gergan for figuring out how to build this damn XULRunner beast), add following patch to the ebuild (not required, but this fixes text selection with mouse in Ephy, MOZ#373196) and patch Epiphany with following patch.
Happy hacking
Ah, yes.. almost forgot - this was posted from Epiphany using XULRunner 1.9 backend ![]()
